Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI): Schematics and Metering:

Schematic.gif

Since the RHI tariff rate for your technology is paid on each Kilowatt-hour (kWh) of heat used, heat meters are required to calculate the correct RHI payment amount.  As such,Ofgem E-Serve must verify the number of meters required, their positioning and also whether the type of meter used is acceptable as part of the accreditation process in order to ensure correct payments are made.Ofgem RHI applications require a Schematic Diagram of the installation and the heating system of which it forms part during the accrediation process.  This diagram will form a key part of the application for accreditation.

The schematic diagram will need clearly to show, as appropriate to the heating system of which the installation forms part:

  • The exact positions of the eligible installation(s) (including any component plants), any ineligible plant(s), eligible heat use(s), any ineligible heat use(s) and heat rejection facility/facilities.
  • The exact pipework connections between all plants within the eligible installation(s)
  • The exact pipework connections between all eligible installations, all ineligible plants and eligible or ineligible uses of heat, and
  • The exact positions of the relevant heat and steam meters and their associated components.
With regards to metering arrangements, the Schematic Diagram should include a key and must clearly show for each meter used for RHI purposes, as appropriate:
  • The meter sub components' positions, i.e. positions of temperature sensors, pressure sensors, flow meters and any flow conditioners/straighteners
  • The measurements will be combined by the calculator/digital integrator to generate the meter reading
  • The RHI meter serial number as listed in the applicant's application for accreditation
